Challenges and Risks of Artificial Intelligence in Electronic Warfare
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a disruptive force in electronic warfare (EW), enabling advanced signal processing, threat recognition, and real-time decision-making. However, the integration of AI into EW systems introduces a range of challenges and risks. These include data scarcity and bias, system robustness, adversarial manipulation, legal and ethical concerns, and the complexities of human–machine teaming in high-stakes environments. This article outlines the key challenges and risks associated with the development and deployment of AI-enabled EW systems, reviews contemporary research, and suggests potential solutions to mitigate these risks, drawing on both technical innovations and policy frameworks.
